Aquarius Rods LLC - Custom fishing rods and boat equipment. Specializing in Delta guide systems and Dolphin carbon fiber handles.
The 21st century is a period of innovation and performance. In a rod building industry most of that innovation strategy is directed toward materials that are used to create each component of a good fishing rod. Lighter, stronger, and more sensitive are major characteristics that are priorities on a minds of todays serious anglers looking for a new tool to catch their next trophy.
We at Aquarius Rods want to take that innovation in a bit different direction. Since most of the components are widely available to anyone that wants to build a rod in order to stand out we directed our attention to maximizing performance and utilization of all of the attributes of today’s blanks. This is why when you decide to try a rod from our shop you will be introduced to Dolphin Grip and Delta B guide system. We know that just giving something a fancy name is not going to help you catch more fish so we will try to briefly introduce and explain what is hidden behind that terminology.
Dolphin Grip and Reel mount is one of a kind. It is completely constructed out of graphite fiber material which is structurally identical to most of today’s rod blanks. It comes in 3 sizes and uninstalled grip weight ranges from 13g to 18g which on average corresponds to 1/2oz. Every grip before installation is custom fitted to an individual blank. There is no additional wrapping or fillers between the blank and the grip itself . The direct contact allows the bite signal to freely travel from the tip of a rod directly to the palm of your hand. Additional feature that makes Dolphin grip and reel mount unique is that it is screw-less. Reel is secured to your rod with a simple and rigid “push in” action. It eliminates loosening of reel or its locking mechanisms. It allows you to enjoy the day on the water without retightening any nuts every 15 minutes. As mentioned before it comes in three sizes and will accommodate all of brand name spinning reels and blanks. Dolphin Grip uniqueness does not end there it does a bit more. By design it positions your reel on a slight angle that directly functions with our other innovation, Delta-B guide system.
Delta-B is a system which refers to the way line guides are positioned and spaced on your fishing rod. It’s main purpose is to utilizes all of blank’s characteristics to their full extent. This is achieved by installing large number of micro guides relatively closer to each other than in any other rod . Thanks to the reel being slightly angled by previously mentioned Dolphin grip we are able to position first guide much closer to the reel and reduce its size too. It gives us a longer area of the rod to work with. Thanks to Delta-B the force of a fighting fish is evenly distributed throughout the whole length of the rod and the pivot point is brought down closer to the wrist. In traditional rods most of that force is felt in the upper section and your wrist has to work much harder. Another advantage of the Delta B system is the casting distance. With micro guides relatively closely spaced from each other and a calculated distance of choker guide we are able to constrain line coils coming off the reel to a minimum. The shorter distance between the first guide and a reel forces the line into a tunnel created by following guides much quicker. We know it’s hard to visualize it but tests performed and the feedback from our customers and representatives are proving that the line is coming of the reel with less effort and movement caused by centrifugal forces stabilizes quicker making your cast longer and more accurate.
These are main benefits of owning an Aquarius rod equipped with Dolphin Grip and Delta B system. We are glad and proud to be the first ones in U.S. to be able to introduce those innovations to You. It does not matter to us if you are a Sunday angler or a veteran pro. If you know exactly what blank to pick or need advice based on a targeted species and type of water you fish. We would like to build You a rod that will take your fishing experience to the next level.
